Shannon O’Kelley, Lead Interior Designer at Pininfarina of America, sits down with Olivia Beaton, Editor, Senior Living News, to discuss the latest developments in designing for senior living and what we can expect to see moving into 2021 and beyond. O’Kelley shares her years of expertise in the industry to highlight some design solutions to the challenges COVID-19 has posed in senior living.

Shannon O’Kelley is the Lead Interior Designer at Pininfarina of America working in the studio’s interior design department providing support to the growing, multidisciplinary design team.
Shannon’s experience extends through several sectors including hospitality, restaurants, multi-family residential, ships, senior living, and healthcare. She has demonstrated proficiencies in new construction, conceptual and space planning, as well as construction administration. She has worked with brands such as Wyndham, Hilton, Marriott/Ritz Carlton, and Sandals, in addition to her role in Pininfarina’s work with The Concours Club amongst others.
Prior to joining Pininfarina’s Miami-based team in early 2020 Shannon served as a Design Manager and Senior Designer at Gensler, where she helped oversee the Senior Living Interiors practice and led the new construction and interiors for projects around the United States –– including work in states such as Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Her expertise set a new standard for high end, resort style senior living including Windsor at Celebration Senior Living (Celebration, FL) which was awarded the NEWH Golden Palm Award 2019 for Senior Living Amenities. Shannon has also worked with a number of additional prestigious firms, including Miami’s Howard Snoweiss Design Group / RTKL Assoc, and formerly managed the design wing of Royal Caribbean International.
